Slain Officers Kid’s College Fund

Written by admin on September 23, 2009

The children of slain Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas have not yet started school, but their college tuition is already funded.

Robert Matthew, 2, and Kayla Allysa, 1, were presented yesterday with 12 U.S. Treasury bonds that will mature to $60,000 in scholarship money in honor of their father, Robert Rosas. Such an amazing and cool gesture.

Rosas, 30, was tracking suspected illegal immigrants in remote and rocky terrain about 9:15 p.m. July 23 when he came under fire near the U.S.-Mexico border. Other agents found him dead outside his vehicle near the border fence.

Principal Accused Of Theft

Written by admin on September 23, 2009

An elementary school principal accused of stealing nearly $50,000 from the Oceanside Unified School District and the local PTA over a four-year period pleaded not guilty today to 10 felony charges, including grand theft.

Paulette Dastrup Thompson, 59, has been on leave from her job at Reynolds Elementary School since February.

The defendant was charged Aug. 28 with nine counts of grand theft and one count of using the personal identifying information of another.

At her arraignment today, Judge David Szumowski agreed to allow Thompson to remain out of custody on her own recognizance.

The criminal complaint alleges that Thompson took money from the school district and the parent-teacher organization while she was principal at San Luis Rey Elementary and Reynolds Elementary from 2005 to last October.

What a sad state of affairs, no? Who can we trust anymore?! It’s sad when you’re scared to send your children to school.

Recycling Efforts Sky Rocket

Written by admin on September 23, 2009

Nearly 65 percent of the waste generated in San Diego last year was recycled, the highest rate since the city began keeping records, Mayor Jerry Sanders announced today.

Sanders attributed the achievement to new stringent municipal recycling laws and outreach efforts.

I have to say, anything that cleans up the city is a-okay with me. I might not agree with many of the things Mr. Sanders does, but, this one we see eye to eye. Good job Mayor!

Putting In A Sink

Written by admin on September 23, 2009

You know, I think I made a mistake with the sink I installed in my house. I really didn’t do my homework, like I normally do, and I think it bit me in the butt. My parents are actually putting in a new undermount sink, they’re just trying to decide which route to go. My Mom is a big “go green” person, so, she’s looking at this new sink by MR Direct that is only made with green products (which I happen to think is VERY cool!!). But on the other side, my Step-Dad is looking at their stainless steel sink. The stainless steel (which is heavy duty 16 gauge) is 25% thicker than Kohler and Blanco sinks, so it’s of real high quality but they can’t decide. And I’m of no help cause I like the smart divide sink which allows for easy clean up of large and akward pans. I think that has to do with my hate as a youth for trying to wash pans in our old, tiny, akward sized sink. haha. I’d end up banging the pots and pans on the side, creating marks all over the sink and…eek…what a mess it was. Hopefully they figure it out soon though!

On My Way To Target

Written by admin on September 23, 2009

Heh, you know those as seen on tv products? They always have them at Target and they are always screaming “BUY ME”…but I’m always worried I’m getting ripped off, you know?! I heard there was a place called StarReviews that actually reviews all of these products which is pretty sweet. Now I can figure out which ones I should buy and scream out “HI! BILLY MAYS HERE” in my kitchen. lol

Finding A xerox phaser toner?

Written by admin on September 23, 2009

Do you know how difficult it is to find a xerox phaser toner? Seriously. I think I’ve searched through every mountain and desert on this planet for one, haha. And the few times I did find them, they wanted a crazy amount of cash for it. Thankfully though, I recently found GM Supplies Ltd which had my xerox phaser toner (for cheap!) as well as pretty much anything and everything else I needed. They even state they’re willing to go out and find what you need for you in the off chance that they don’t have it. Pretty cool huh!? I think they said they had over 4,000 supplies from over 30 manufactures though, so, I doubt you need to worry about them not having what you need.

Seriously though, with the amount of office supplies that I run through, finding a cheap and reliable place for them is a life saver (as well as a money saver!). Don’t ask me how, but, it seems like I go through more office products in my home office than many would at a small office…haha.

Anyway, I’m pretty excited that I found my toner and also found a cheap alternative for future office supply needs!

Attended A Wedding – Ugly Satin Overlay

Written by admin on September 22, 2009

So this past weekend I attended a wedding (although I’m still unclear as to why) with my girlfriend. She was invited to the wedding a while back and of course I was her date. And while it was a nice wedding, the satin overlay they used was horrible!!!

It was down in Del Mar (which is the fancy area around here) and I expected the wedding would be just as fancy. Seems like a logical assumption, right? Well, it was a pretty fancy wedding. However, there was one major problem and that was the satin overlay they used. It made the wedding look so cheap (and I know for a fact it was anything but). I mean, seriously…they spent all of this money to have this amazing looking wedding and the place they held the reception at used this terrible satin overlays? It’s something I’d never do at my wedding. The really amazing part is that I wasn’t the only one that noticed. A few of the people sitting at our table (who we didn’t know) also mentioned how cheap they look. I mean seriously…even if the place you’re holding your reception doesn’t have some nice wedding linens, just go buy some of your own from Raza Trade or something. They’re totally affordable and will end up making a world of difference.

Off to Greensville

Written by admin on September 22, 2009

Well, not myself, but a college buddy of mine is moving to Greenville SC for a new job. It’s not a permanent thing, but, he’s expecting he’ll be there for a year or a year and a half. He’s already rented an apartment and he’ll be moving there here very shortly, a matter of weeks really. He’s going to all by himself so, hopefully he’ll find some stuff to do to stay entertained and meet a few people. I did a little research and told him GreenvilleHD.com has a behind the scenes look at everything going on in the city, so, he might wanna check it out and stay up to date using it.

Another Pregnancy?!

Written by admin on September 22, 2009

Oh my! Is it something in the water?! I’m starting to think it is! I’m afraid if I drink the water, I might get pregnant…haha.

A few hours after learning my sister is 3 months pregnant, my good friend and co-worker Kacey just told me she’s expecting sometime early next year. She’s not nearly as advanced as my Sister, but, I think she’s starting to show a little more than my sister. Maybe it’s the glow in her face. lol

Either way, it looks like she’s gonna be in need of some Maternity Clothes, even though she’s a tiny little thing. You should see the way she dresses. It’s like she’s going to a Hollywood movie premier every time she comes into work, so, she’s going to definitely need some designer maternity clothes. I was helping her look for some clothes since she’s going to need them pretty soon and she really liked this pair of Maternity capris. I had no idea they even made maternity capris! They actually had a ton of products I hadn’t really seen before…really stylish and trendy.

I guess I’m used to all the ugly Wal-Mart style maternity clothing that I always see. Nice to see some trendy and stylish maternity clothing. Makes the women feel good!

Fire Risk

Written by admin on September 22, 2009

Man, is it a scorcher outside or what? The fire danger is crazy right now. A swfit wind and half the county could be up in flames like it was 2003 or 2007 all over again. It’s such a scary time of year, especially early when there is so much dry brush.

They’ve already got a fast moving fire (40 mph winds!!!) in Ventura, and that weather is supposed to be here tomorrow so be on your toes people. Scary times.
