Enjoy Friday’s sunny and warm weather because a series of storms are expected to pound the region starting Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
A powerful jet stream will allow a series of storms to hit Southern California next week. There is some uncertainty regarding the timing of each system and total rainfall amounts, but these storms have a potential to be “quite vigorous,” according to the service.
A high surf advisory is also in effect until 6 p.m. Friday with waves of up to nine feet expected. A wind advisory is also in effect for the mountains until 2 p.m. Friday. Wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour could make driving conditions difficult for high profile vehicles.
At the beach, temperatures will stay warm reaching the mid-70s. Near 80 degrees is forecast for the inland areas, forecasters say.
