H1N1 Shot Given Despite Orders Not To

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

The San Ysidro School District is investigating how a 13-year-old middle school student received the H1N1 flu vaccination last week over her objections and against the will of her parents.

Jose Gomez, 39, said he signed a form last November stating his daughter, a student at San Ysidro Middle School, was not to get a shot and reaffirmed that position to two people last week. The school provided vaccinations on Thursday.

District Nurse Anita Gillchrest said she investigated the incident and has forwarded a report to Superintendent Manuel Paul, but she said she could not reveal the details.

I can’t help but think this is going to cause quite a stir here locally.

Why Do I Find This Funny?

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

Palomar Pomerado Health has hired one of the most recognizable names in San Diego County to help it promote its services throughout North County.

The public hospital district hired recently-retired Channel 10 newscaster Carol LeBeau to serve as a spokesperson for one year. As part of the deal, the hospital has launched “Taking Charge with Carol,” a Web site focused on fitness and well-being.

LeBeau will take and respond to questions from the public on the Web site — www.pph.org/carol — and will also participate in various radio, television and direct marketing efforts of Palomar Pomerado Health. She will also participate in various in-person hospital events during the next year.

Though she lives in Coronado and has never been a patient at either of Palomar Pomerado’s hospitals in Escondido and Poway, LeBeau said she had regularly visited the hospitals for various stories that aired on Channel 10.

Am I the only one who finds great humor in this? lol

Looking For a Gift For My Girlfriend

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

I’m the kinda guy that likes to buy gifts for my girlfriend – just little things to say I love you, you know? So the other day she was talking about Magnetic Bracelets but I somewhat remember them as pretty ugly and just boring, but she said they’re so different now. So, on her advice I looked around and found BillyTheTree’s magnetic bracelet collection which is pretty awesome! First off, everybody is saying nice things about them and second – they’re really affordable. Most are under $30 bucks and you get free shipping on them – you can’t really beat that. Add in the fact they ship worldwide and have great customer service, it’s a win/win situation. With BillyTheTree’s magnetic bracelet collection, people can now wear strong magnetic bracelets that are also stylish! Pretty cool! Hope she likes it!

I Love The Rodeos

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

I remember when I was a kid, my Uncle was a professional team roper and I used to travel to Las Vegas and watch him with my family. To this day, it’s still one of my best childhood memories though I admit, I haven’t been back in a while. I do still attend some local rodeo’s here but they just don’t have that same vibe and feel. It’s like comparing a little league game with a professional sports game, so, I’ve been thinking about going back to watch some real life rodeo, specifically the National Finals. I’ve been looking around lately for some tickets and came across the NFR Tickets plaza where they have a variety of tickets available for the event. I was pretty shocked at the prices too – they’re very reasonable so I’m thinking of inviting a few friends to go with me. They’ve never been to any rodeo, let alone the National Finals so I think they’d have as much fun as I did as a kid. It’s really not something I can put into words…the experience is just something that you have to take part in. Hopefully I’ll be sitting front row here shortly!

The Good Old Days

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

When I was in High School a few good buddies of mine and I had a little video production group that we ran. Eventually, we became the High School yearbook video editors and a couple of the guys from our little group actually went on to college and studied video production. I still talk to them quite a bit and one is now living in New York working on video production. It’s crazy to think that he went from silly small scale videos to Video productions New York, right? Anyway, he told me that he’s been working on an independent film the last 6 months or so and that he’s going to come back here to premier it which I thought was just awesome and he wants myself and the rest of our old crew to accept an invite to the premier which I thought was just awesome.

Just so funny to think back on those days and now see where he’s at.

Going To The All-Star Game

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

I honestly can’t tell you how excited I am. I’ve been wanting to do this my entire adult life, and now having the chance to go to the NBA All-Star Game in Dallas in less than a month? Wow. I swear my mouth is grinning ear to ear. And not only that, but the fact that I get to go do it with my best friend and my girlfriend? It’s really like a dream come true. Anyway, while I’m there…I do have plans to stay about a week or so and a few nights there wont be anything going on so I wanted to take my girlfriend out for a really nice dinner in downtown Dallas, so, I’ve been on the lookout for the best Dallas limo service. Though, I should have asked my buddy his view since he’s been to Dallas about 900 times it seems like. lol

Anyway, I just can’t wait…All-Star game…great evening with my girlfriend…a nice little ride around town in a limo – what more could I ask for?!

Cargo Insurance

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

So a good buddy of mine has started up a company that deals with a lot of importing and exporting of products. It’s gone pretty well for him but he’s been losing money in a couple ways which he’s asked me to help out with. First off, his main problem that he was having a few months ago was simply products being damaged in shipping which resulted in a loss of funds. So, he went to a company who specialized in the insuring of those products but it didn’t turn out so well. He was always in a constant fight, etc, trying to get his money back so I told him he needed to look for a new company. Anyway, being the good friend I am I thought I might look into logistics insurance and cargo liability insurance at GSIS since I have a pretty solid background in it. It’s something you need to be careful in doing as you need to do your homework…but once you’ve done so, and found the right liability insurance provider, you’ll be happy you did.

Breaking News: Middle School On Lockdown

Written by admin on January 22, 2010

San Elijo Middle School in San Marcos is on lockdown, according to school officials.

It was not immediately clear why the school, located at 1600 Schoolhouse Way, was locked down.

Authorities were searching the area for a suspect, according to emergency radio communications.

There really isn’t much info to go on right now but I wanted to let all the visitors know about this.
