Former San Diego city council member Toni Atkins officially kicked off her campaign for state assembly Saturday.
The Democrat marked the start of her campaign with a rally at Mission Bay.
Atkins said she wants to go to Sacramento to help California regain its reputation as a leader. She told supporters it would not be easy, but she is ready to work hard and participate in difficult discussions.
Atkins is running for the 76th District seat currently held by assembly member Lori Saldana, who is not running due to term limits.
