Fixing A Broken System

Written by admin on July 20, 2010

So last evening I had dinner with my Stepfather and he was telling me about the grief that he and others were getting at their company. I’d name the company, but I don’t want to get in trouble. Let’s just say…you use their products all the time and most likely, you don’t even know it. Ha, how is that for keeping a secret?!

Anyway, he’s pretty powerful in terms of making decisions, etc…but it’s a process. You go through so many people…if one person doesn’t agree, it holds up everything. So, I got to thinking this afternoon to see if there was some type of outside solution. I really didn’t think there would be, but, I figured it was worth a few minutes of my time to look. After I did for a while, I came across http://www.board-advisory.com which seems almost perfect for what they need to resolve their issues. It’s an independent counsel to boards…that way there are no emotions or feelings involved. Nobody gets their shoes stepped on, if you will, and things get done. I’ve already e-mailed him the link…we’ll see what he says. Hopefully they implement it. Those guys deal with way too much stress as it is.

A SAP Report

Written by admin on July 20, 2010

So, when I started my at home, small business a couple years ago…I really didn’t need anything fancy. I didn’t need any other persons help…I didn’t need any fancy machines or services to help me out. Boy, how that changes. One man can only do so many things, you know?

Anyway, back on point. For whatever reason (I guess I’m a gluten for punishment), for years I’ve done any and all data extraction by hand. Yea, I can see you looking at me weird, wondering why I’ve done that. I can’t figure it out either. I guess I believed that a lot of data extraction was expensive and I thought all the time I spent doing it would be worth it. Guess what? I was wrong. haha. Now I’ve been looking into getting a SAP report on my data and the prices are actually really reasonable. I kinda feel stupid for wasting all the time I did thinking the service would be over-priced. I guess you never know until you look, eh? Well, at least I know now.

Family Reunion In Milwaukee

Written by admin on July 20, 2010

Welp, it’s that time. Every few years my family and I (my extended family, I should say) will have a family reunion type deal in Milwaukee. It’s something we’ve done for a while now and in all honesty, it’s a ton of fun. My Aunt knows a lady who owns about 8 little cabins right on a lake up there, so, we stay there for a week and just catch up. We try to divide up the responsibilities so it’s not such a chore for everybody and this year I’ve got stuck finding food. So, the last few days I’ve been on an all-out attack to find some good but affordable caterers in Milwaukee. I wasn’t doing so well until this morning…I think I finally found what we need. They have an awesome selection and will be more than willing to travel to our location. So, all in all – looks like it’s going to work out and I’m going to be the hero…haha. You can’t mess up the found, am I right? How come I get all of this pressure?! haha

Help Moving?

Written by admin on July 16, 2010

So, I’m thinking about buying an apartment up in the central coast area of California. I grew up in that area and would just love to have a place up there where I could go visit from time to time. But, in this economy, every penny saved helped so I’m thinking if I go through with it I’m going to use U-Pack to help move my stuff. I looked into some “typical” moving companies and the prices were just asinine. So, I’m thinking with the dish pack from U-Pack, I’ll be able to save a few thousand dollars (easy) and put that towards some new furniture for the apartment. A win, win, situation.

Tri City Votes On Sterling

Written by admin on July 13, 2010

Although hospital directors voted to ask the San Diego County Grand Jury to look into the matter, Tri-City Hospital District directors stopped short of censuring one of their own in a special meeting Monday night.

In a 4-2 vote, with board member Ron Mitchell absent, the board found that Director Kathleen Sterling violated the hospital’s code of conduct, which forbids threats or intimidation, during a dinner meeting May 26.

The board also voted 4-2, with Sterling and Director Charlene Anderson in opposition, to forward the matter to the grand jury for investigation of whether the director broke any law when allegedly offering future votes for placement in certain board leadership positions.

A separate 3-3 vote to censure Sterling failed, with Director Larry Schallock, along with Sterling and Anderson voting against the proposal.

You Know What I Love?

Written by admin on July 13, 2010

Presents. I love presents. Gifts. Whatever you want to call them…haha. There is just something about getting a gift/present from somebody as a thank you (or for a special occassion) that makes you perk up and smile. Now, you’re most likely wondering why I’m on this little tingent. That my friends is because I just got two wonderful gift baskets from a client that I helped out yesterday. One of them is filled with chocolates and other candy (YUM!) and the other is filled with some cheeses and crackers, two of my favorite things. They’re really nice looking and I’ve already dug into the chocolate one – tastes yummy!

Going To The Beach For The 4th

Written by admin on July 2, 2010

What are your plans? I’m heading down to the beach tomorrow with some family. I have to admit, I’m pretty lucky to live just a few miles from the coast. I haven’t seen my niece in a few months so I figured I’d get her a  presents. I know she’s a big fan of Roxy Clothing so I’m going to pick her up a few shirts I think. A happy 4th of July present. ha
