3 Of 4 Imperial Beach Seats Up For Election
Written by admin on August 16, 2010
The son of Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Solana Beach, is running for a seat on the Imperial Beach City Council in one of four races that could fundamentally change the makeup of the city’s governing body.
Brian P. Bilbray, 25, who last worked as a marine engineer’s mate, will face 30-year-old Paul Brown, a criminal justice career coordinator at UEI College. They will vie in November for a two-year seat that has been temporarily filled by former Mayor Diane Rose.
When Rose was appointed to the interim seat, she promised not to run for the remaining two years of the term of Councilman Fred McLean, who died last year.
Also come November, a whole new slate of council members may be in charge. Only Councilman Jim King’s seat is secure.

Whoops – Guess Who Needs A Holster Too
Written by admin on August 16, 2010
Well, I guess I spoke a little prematurely. Here I was, thinking I was all set and ready for a hunting trip but I have no holsters at all. I don’t know what happened to them. I had a couple but it’s been a few years since I pulled them out of storage in the attic. I can’t imagine I’d throw them away on accident, but, I’ve been known to do some dumb things like that before. So, I guess it’s time to look for a new one, or maybe even two for the hunting trip. I know some guys don’t like to use them when hunting but I actually prefer it. Guess it’s just a matter of opinion.

Taking Pops Hunting – Needs A Pouch Though
Written by admin on August 16, 2010
Later this month, I’ve decided that I’m going to take my Dad hunting. We used to go a lot when I was younger, but for whatever reason, we just sorta…stopped. I figured it would be a nice way to get back in touch, have some fun, you know? He mentioned to me that he’s going to need some magazine pouches so I told him I’d get him some. There aren’t really any stores around here locally that have anything like that, so, most times if I need some type of hunting gear (or any type of 2nd amendment gear, as I like to call it…haha) I just use Opticsplanet since they always have what I need.

Cowboy and Western Boots
Written by admin on August 16, 2010
Later this month I’ll be traveling to Northern California to take part in a local calf roping contest which I’m very excited about. It’s been a while since I’ve done anything like this, but, I used to do it all the time when I was a kid. Hopefully it’s just like riding a bike, right? lol
Anyway, I’m going to need some new gear before I head up there, especially some new Cowboy Boots. There is just something about some nice, old fashioned Western Boots that really make the outfit, you know? You can have the hat, the shirt, the chaps, but if you’re missing the boots – it’s just not right.
I know MetBoots.com has been around quite a while and has a reputation for great service and low prices, so, hopefully they have what I’m looking for.

Local Beaches On Alert
Written by admin on August 10, 2010
San Diego lifeguards have issued a swimming advisory after two large sharks were spotted off our coast.
Lifeguards tell News 8 they received two credible large shark sightings off La Jolla shores.
They are warning swimmers and surfers to be careful if they are in the water between La Jolla cove and Scripps pier.
There have been a TON of sightings locally lately, so, I’d advise to keep a safe distance on the beach. The cool water is really bringing them closer to shore this year.

Local Bandits Captured, Finally
Written by admin on August 5, 2010
Two serial burglary suspects were behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of breaking into vehicles throughout the San Diego region and making off with hundreds of valuables left inside the autos – and it’s about time they were finally snagged.
Detectives arrested Aaron Charles Bobo, 39, and Donald Jonescue, 52, at a La Mesa apartment on Tuesday, Sgt. Tom Poulin said.
Bobo and Jonescue are suspected of looting vehicles from Chula Vista and Santee to Oceanside, Poulin said, adding that the pair allegedly used credit cards stolen during the crimes to buy gift cards at various retail stores.
Great job by the Sheriffs to finally catch these two turds.

Investing In Gold?
Written by admin on August 5, 2010
So, I was cleaning out some of my basement yesterday and I found all sorts of things I totally forgot I had. From old children toys to things like my first home run ball, it was pretty cool. I love nostalgic things. One of the more interesting things I found though was a box full of my Grandfathers stuff. I never really looked inside of it before, kinda just shoved it down there. So, I opened it up and found all sorta of old jewelery of his. Real, gold jewelery. So I called him up and told him about it…and do you know what his response was? lol He said I should go have it melted down so I can get some money for it. I wasn’t going to do that, but, it did get me thinking about some of the gold stuff I have that I never wear. I know a lot of people play around with stocks, etc, when it comes to investing money but man -Gold investment is something that never goes out of style. I think it’s a great thing to invest in if you have the chance. Be it bars of gold or pieces of jewelery, or whatever, gold is gold…melted or solid. Seems like a smart decision to me.
