Starting A New Business?

Written by admin on November 30, 2010

Well, I’m not starting a new business per say, but I am starting a new website. Now, if all goes as planned, it’ll eventually turn into a business (it’s selling specialized sport t-shirts) but one of the first things I need to do is create a logo. I however, and worthless with graphics and trying to think of something to use. So, I think my best option will be to use a Logo Design Company to help me out. I know some buddies of mine have used this type of service before and it turned out awesome, so, I’ll try my hand in it I think.

Saving Money At Xmas With Coupons

Written by admin on November 30, 2010

You know, it’s holiday time and that means one thing – buying gifts. Now, I tend to overbuy (hey, I like doing it)…but I’m always doing my best to find some ways to save money. One of the two ways I do it is to find a sale OR find a coupon code online. For example, I’m looking for a new frame for my mother’s glasses so I decided I’d go look for a frames direct coupon and to my luck, I found one. Actually, I found a couple. I might actually buy myself one as well….we can be styin’ together, eh? haha

Making Invites For My Xmas Party

Written by admin on November 22, 2010

It’s that time of the year again and I just love it. Say what you will – yes, the holidays can be stressful, but, it’s all about how you approach them. For example, I need to make some invites for my Xmas party. So I could spend a few hours writing them out by hand OR I could just do some email save the date cards, as I like to call them. No need for me to mail out 50 0r 100 letters, get the stamps for them, take them to the post office, etc. All I need to do is write an e-mail, add some music and graphics to it (how cool is that?), press send and ta-da! All done. Doesn’t get much simpler than that, does it?!

No State Law Requires Rural Law Plan

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

San Diego County planners have spent the past 12 years —- and $16 million —- updating a comprehensive backcountry growth plan. But they’re not required to do so under state law.

Even so, backers of the General Plan Update say there are a host of reasons the massive blueprint is being reworked, even if it’s not legally necessary.

The most obvious, they say, is that the county’s original General Plan is more than 30 years old and nearly obsolete. General plans outline where and how many homes, roads, businesses and parks should be established within a juridiction’s limits.

The Splender Docked Until New Year

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

The cruise ship left dead in the water off Mexico after an engine fire will be out of commission until until mid-January, Carnival Cruise Line officials said Sunday.

The 952-foot Carnival Splendor was towed to San Diego and docked Thursday morning. About 4,500 vacationers and crew members spent three days mostly without electricity.

A Nov. 8 fire in the aft engine room left the normally luxurious ship dead in the water about 150 miles south of San Diego and 55 miles west of Punta San Jacinto.

All Splendor voyages planned through Jan. 9 are canceled, according to Carnival Cruise Line, which said the cruise ship would set sail next on Jan. 16.

Travelers who had already booked tickets for the canceled voyages will receive a full refund for the cruise and any air-transportation costs, along with a 25 percent discount on a future cruise. Those who were aboard the Splendor at the time of the fire will get refunds, plus a complimentary cruise equal to the amount paid for the aborted voyage.

At the time of the fire, the Splendor was on the first leg of a seven-day Mexican Riviera tour that had departed Long Beach the previous day.

Parking District To See Changes

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

A nonprofit criticized for the way it managed money from parking meters in Hillcrest, Mission Hills and other Uptown neighborhoods will undergo a dramatic reorganization, under a plan approved this month by the group’s board of directors. The Uptown Partnership, which manages revenue for the Uptown Community Parking District, made important strides in responding to critiques from community groups and elected officials, board President Dave Gatzke said. But when the San Diego City Council in September called for further changes — opting to approve a three-month contract rather than a one-year pact

My Pre-Xmas Vacation

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

Well, I shouldn’t say vacation I guess since I will be working. Anyway, I’m going to be staying up at a family lake house (as I normally do) on my annual pre Christmas vacation. It’s something I’ve done for a few years and I guess I’m making it somewhat of a tradition. Anyway, the problem with the house (beautiful as it is)…is that there is no internet access. I know, right? So, I’m going to get wild blue high speed internet installed up there so I can work away on my “vacation”. Haha, seriously though, I do take some time off to enjoy the scenery so it’s not like I’m working all the time when I’m there. Plus, it’s out in the middle of no place…so the internet is going to be my only friend. :( haha

What About A Christmas Clock?

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

So, I’ve been racking my brain lately trying to figure out a gift for my grandparents. They don’t do much, other than travel and play golf, and well…I get them a present associated with one of those activities EVERY year…even for their birthdays. So, I wanted to switch it up this year. I thought about getting them a really pretty clock for their living room. I pressed my Grandmother on it a few weeks back and she mentioned her love of Howard Miller clocks, so, I think I’ll take the plunge and get them one this year. They actually had one (well, were given one) when my Grandfather retired but that’s been quite some time ago. They totally need a new one. I hope they like it!

Time To Date?

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

You know what sucks? The local dating scene. I don’t know why, but, I just can’t find anybody local that is worth my time. I know that sounds a bit condescending but it’s true. Why waste my time or theirs? Doesn’t make a lot of sense either way.

Anyway, with the holidays coming up, etc…I don’t have a lot of time to be dating anyway…so maybe I’ll give it a rest until the new year.

Anti Gym Opens in El Cajon

Written by admin on November 15, 2010

The self-proclaimed ‘anti-gym’ has come to El Cajon. Yes, you read that right. Anti-Gym. lol

CrossFit East County, a 4,000-square-foot fitness center owned by local businessman Paul Flores, relocated last month from neighboring La Mesa. Last week, Flores hosted a dedication ceremony for the new facility, located at 1411 N. Cuyamaca Street, which was attended by several local politicians and police officers.

CrossFit is a performance-based exercise program that has attracted a huge following over the last few years, and it is especially popular among first responders. Flores, 50, said 80 percent of CrossFit East County’s 155-member clientele are police officers, firefighters and military.

Flores’ facility hardly looks like a gym. It is a spacious room with high ceilings, a few free weights and no machines. Members have the option of paying for personal training, which ranges from $60-$70 an hour, or participating in group classes that start at $100 a month for beginners.
